In the beginning of Jesus’s ministry one of the first signs He did was provide wine at the Wedding Feast in Cana. He didn’t call attention to the fact that it was He who changed the water into wine when the steward of the feast remarked, “Every man serves the good wine first; and when men have drunk freely, then the poor wine, but you have kept the good wine until now!” Jesus quietly stood back as the scene unfolded . Not many knew He was responsible as in Verse 9 in John 2 we read, “only the servants knew”.
In the very beginning of Jesus’s Earthly ministry, Jesus’s first sign and miracle was involving a wedding and Wine- fruit from the vine. At the very end of Jesus’s earthly ministry, Wine is again involved, and this time it is no longer water transformed into wine, but wine transformed by Him into His blood that would soon be shed for all mankind. What a sacred and solemn first Communion our King in Exile gave His first disciples. It was like a Wedding Banquet of love between he and them that would be shared by all in future generations. During that sacred Last Supper, Jesus offers them His cup of the Wine, and tells them, “Take this and divide it amongst yourselves; for I tell you that from now on I shall not drink of the fruit of the vine until the Kingdom comes.”
When Jesus returns to establish His Father’s Kingdom on this Earth, He will once again drink of the fruit of the vine at His Wedding Banquet for His Bride will have finally become united to Him . That will be the best Wine saved for Last!
